[b]MATCH PREVIEW

While the Glassboys have tasted defeat in their last three away games, their home record remains strong with only Kettering Town having won at Amblecote in the Premier Division Central this season.

Gary Hackett’s men will be looking to complete a league double over Leiston after recording a 3 – 0 win at Victory Road nearly three months ago. Goals from Aaron Forde, Luke Benbow and Kaiman Anderson earned Stourbridge the three points.

Stourbridge hope to welcome back talismanic striker Luke Benbow after he was forced out of last Saturday’s game at Tamworth, but midfielder Robert Thompson-Brown is unlikely to feature after sustaining a knee ligament injury. The Glassboys have also bade farewell, at least for now, to Bilal Yafai due to personal reasons.

Leiston finished 5th in the Bostik League Premier Division last season before losing narrowly to Dulwich Hamlet in the play-off semi-finals. The Suffolk club were then switched to the newly created Southern League Premier Division Central for this season. The Blues won their opening two games to be 2nd in the table at that early stage and despite the departure of boss Glenn Driver after two-and-a-half years in charge in October 2018, they remained in and around the play-off places for another month or so under the newly appointed Stuart Boardley until some poorer form in December in the lead-up to Christmas saw them slip down the table and their results have been up and down since.

Leiston are currently 11th in the league standings with 41 points from 29 games (won 11, drew 8 and lost 10), while their record on their travels is played 14, won 4, drew 6 and lost 4.

They have enjoyed some good results against play-off chasing sides in the last fortnight with a 1 – 1 draw away at AFC Rushden & Diamonds followed by a 2 – 0 victory over Alvechurch at home last Saturday.

Going further back, Leiston also ended Kettering’s unbeaten start to the current campaign back in mid-September when the Blues battled for a 2 – 1 win at Latimer Park.
