Seventh Heaven as Glassgirls Bounce Back!

The Glassgirls were in control throughout after netting twice in the opening three minutes, and the visitors had no answer to the onslaught.

Six different players got their names on the scoresheet, including first goals for the Club for both Zoe Clarke (pictured above), who scored twice, and Niamh Deasy.

"It's a massive win for us after losing last Sunday," said manager Andy Fisher afterwards. "The players had something to prove, but so did we as a backroom team. The planning and the hard work on the training pitch really paid off today.

"It's only one result. Weve got to take that forward to Wednesday's game, and then next Sunday, keep improving, keep raising our standards.

"But there are definitely some smiles back on a lot of faces now. We don't like losing, we're not used to it, winning is a much better feeling!"

Stour forged ahead with less than two minutes played as Mill Rogers' ball over the top of the Lincoln defence was well taken by NIAMH DEASY before finishing well, and it was two within a minute when AMBER LAWRENCE capitalised after Rogers' pass had rebounded off a defender.

Lincoln threatened with a shot which Amie Preston did well to parry before recovering the loose ball, but it was only a brief respite for their back-line as ESME MORAN made it three, poking in after a scramble from Sophie Levick's corner, and before the 20 minute mark ZOE CLARKE grabbed her first as she headed in after Alex Nicklin's ball into the box had been headed against the bar by a City defender.

Preston was forced into a couple of good saves as the lively Lincoln forward line searched for a way back into the game, although Stour could have had a fifth before the break when Deasy's shot was saved and Rogers fired wide from the rebound, and then Nicklin saw an effort ruled out for offside.

Stour pressed home their advantage early in the second half. Moran and Deasy had already gone close before ZOE CLARKE headed home the fifth goal from a Lawrence corner, and before Linclon could regroup, ALEX NICKLIN's free kick from close to halfway somehow found its way through everybody and into the net to make it 6-0.

Another Lincoln effort was parried away and then grabbed at the second attempt by Preston, but Stourbridge were out of sight now, taking the chance to hand debuts to substitutes Sarah Hazell and Senna Robinson, Hazell going close with a glancing header from Rogerss ball in.

And it was Rogers who applied the final blow with a fantastic strike from outside the box which gave the keeper no chance.

Stour move up to third in a congested early League table, with no fewer than nine of the twelve teams on 3 points.
