Sandwell finished third in the Premier Division last season, losing just four of their sixteen League games, and opened this season with a 3-0 win against Coventrians last Sunday, so the game was expected to be a tough test and a pointer towards prospects for the coming months for the newly-promoted Glassgirls.
First half goals from Kat Fryzer and captain Sarah Lojko (pictured above) gave Stourbridge a 2-0 half-time lead, and when Lojko added a third right at the start of the second half, it seemed that the three points were all but secure.
However, Sandwell hit back with a quick-fire double on 49 and 51 minutes to leave the game finely poised. The remainder of the match was even with chances not taken at either end, but the Ladies ultimately hung on to their lead to get the League season off to a winning start.
