Andy Fisher’s team had to show plenty of patience in the first half, constantly knocking on the door of the home defence but soon got into their stride with four goals in the ten minutes leading up to half time, and then added five more after the break.
Hannah Fishwick and Carly Aldred (pictured) led the way with two goals each as Stourbridge made it 21 consecutive League wins across the last three seasons.
Several chances were spurned in the early stages, and it took until the 35 minute mark for ESME MORAN to break the deadlock, stroking the ball home from Aldred’s cut back, and within three minutes it was 2-0 thanks to ALEX NICKLIN, who extended her run of scoring in every match so far with a curling effort from the edge of the area.
The Glassgirls visibly relaxed with their lead established, and FISHWICK added to the lead as she swept the ball home from Millie Rogers’ through ball, and the ALDRED netted a fourth, and her first of the season, right on the half time whistle, running onto Ruby Meeson’s ball down the right flank to finish inside the near post.
Stour showed no sign of letting up after the interval. FISHWICK grabbed her second of the game with a shot from 15 yards after Lili-Beth Bown’s effort had been blocked but only half cleared, and then Nicklin’s cross to the far post was met with a thumping header from MEESON.
A lengthy stoppage followed with Redditch keeper Jade Guppy forced off after treatment for a cut to her head, but the Glassgirls were back at it when play resumed, BOWN collecting the seventh goal, prodding in after Aldred’s corner bounced around the 6-yard box.
ALDRED herself made it eight with a thunderous finish after going through on her own, and CHERYL EDWARDS rounded things off deep into added time from 10 yards following Aldred’s surging run down the right.
Stourbridge take a break from League action as the Vitality Women’s FA Cup takes centre stage this weekend with Kidderminster Harriers the visitors. Kick-off is at 2pm at the War Memorial Ground, with tickets available online.
The next League fixture is at home to Sutton Coldfield Town, one of the favourites for the Title, on Sunday 10th October. Kick-off will be at 2pm at Hingleys.
