Stourbridge Ladies rounded off their season in style as they won the BCWL Open Cup with a 3-1 win against Starlands St Annes.

The win was a fine way to bring the campaign to an end after narrowly missing out on the Premier Division Title by a single point.

Starlands had the better of the opening stages, but the Glassgirls took the lead with their first meaningful attack as top scorer Sarah Lojko sprinted clear before cutting inside and curling a shot into the far corner of the net.

An equaliser came not too long afterwards, as Starlands got behind the Stourbridge defence and their centre-forward rounded goalkeeper Kat Fryzer to slot home, and it was the lower-ranked side who had marginally the better of the half thereafter.

The second period proved to be more even, but with neither team able to force a breakthrough the match went into extra time.

And Stourbridge re-took the lead just five minutes into the first half when Lojko was tripped in the penalty area, and skipper Hayley James sent the Starlands keeper the wrong way from the spot.

A third goal arrived within five minutes, as Lojko, with her back to goal, turned and placed a left-foot shot beyond the keeper into the corner of the net to all but seal victory.

Lojko's double-strike also saw her pass the 100-goal landmark for the Ladies in just three seasons.

On behalf of all at the Club, we would like to congratulate the Glassgirls on a fantastic achievement!
